Everything has an ass, and especially Bug. She was built with 1972 sass and moxie, let me tell you.
Can't you just imagine skin tight bell bottoms?
Nice - but of course nothing comes this easy.
What had happened to poor Bug over the years? Every fender creased or replaced, the front hood and rear apron bent and battered...she was knocked around a lot.
But somehow, due to weird fate she survives pretty much intact, waiting to get ground down and reshaped, pounded back into 1972.
Do you like the action shot?
Electric palm sander, a miracle-worker and I'm glad to have you on the team.
It takes a fair amount of hammering and knocking about, but steel is surprisingly fluid and elastic. After you get the hang of it, you can really get it close. Patience...
A skim coat of Bondo and good as new. I was also able to get rid of the old rust that was forming, eliminating cracks and rust stains in the future.
Almost ready for paint.
It takes a lot of tools to do this work, stand up guys take a bow.
